Thinking of our 6th year class today on what would have been the day of their school graduation. We hope to hold this event in the future to celebrate their achievements of the past number of years. Two messages here below from our management and staff.
To the Class of 2020
The Graduation Day/Evening for Students, Parents and teachers has always been the highlight of our school year. Unfortunately, this year has been very different and like so many other events that have been cancelled in order to comply with Covid 19 health restrictions, our graduation is no different.
On this, which should have been your Graduation Day, we would like to wish you the very best today and in all your future endeavours. We are missing that magical buzz, the enthusiasm, the excitement, the expectation, the togetherness that is so much associated with the event. As teachers and school managers, we have been denied the opportunity to recognize and acknowledge your journey and achievements at Oaklands Community College. The Graduation Ceremony also provided us with a forum whereby we could acknowledge and express our gratitude to parents for all their help and support over the years.
While many other schools are opting for a virtual alternative, we feel that this is not in keeping with the spirit of Oaklands Community College and all we represent. Nothing can replace the personal touch as was evidenced at the school ceremony for our recently deceased Principal Mr Gerry Connolly R.I.P. We were so proud of you all on that day.
With this in mind, it is our intention to celebrate your Graduation at some point in the future. This will be a real celebration of your educational and holistic journey at Oaklands.
It has been a privilege and an honour working with you all over the years. We would urge you to keep in contact with us as you embark on the next stage of your lives.

For the class of 2020
Today should have been your special day
When we all would come together
So each could go their separate way.
But we cannot come together
To remember and have fun
We must wait and keep our distance
Until new times have begun.
But that time will come we know
We’ll celebrate, rejoice and meet
We’ll plant hopes and dreams and wishes
To bloom on paths beneath your feet.
So the class of 2020
On the day you graduate
Although hard and sad and different
We know we just must wait.
